Mr. Don La Foucade has a gift, a rare talent to reach out and speak to
individuals even though there's a crowd listening to him. As an educator I
stood in awe to see the reaction of my students. As the words flowed from
Mr. La Foucade's mouth so did their eyes brighten and they became more
and more enthralled. After teaching for twenty years I was impressed with
his ability to not only capture their attention but to sustain it. His unique ability to take simple words
and transform them into life lessons left the students and myself
speechless.

Like thousands of young people today, my first encounter with Don La Foucade was
during one of his unforgettable appearances as an inspirational speaker at my
secondary school, Holy Name Convent. I watched as his words turned an assembly
hall full of sleepy school girls, into confident and passionate young women who
discovered the power of believing in themselves. Not more than 15 years old at the
time, I remember marching into the rest of that day feeling invincible!
Engrained in my mind is the image of one of his posters on my classroom wall. It was an
eagle in full flight with inspirational words encouraging us not to creep when
we feel the urge to soar!
A few years later, I was personally introduced to Don and had the opportunity to
work alongside him at ' Succeeding with Dyslexia'. We met at a planning session for
the event where we were both guest speakers. I was only 19 at the time and
incredibly excited to work alongside such an amazing individual. However, hidden
behind that excitement was a lot of anxiety and self-doubt. Don was able to see past
my fears and provide more encouragement and support than I could ever ask for!
From that moment on a beautiful friendship blossomed and Don has uplifted and
inspired me time and time again.
He sees something great within you even when you’re struggling to see it yourself, he uses
his words to articulate this in a personal and memorable way that you can cherish for life!
Now on my way to 22 years old, Don LaFoucade has become chosen family in my
life's journey. He is a beacon of hope, light and inspiration, and I am forever grateful
that he answered his God-given calling to spread love through his words!
